This is the Serengeti at its most relaxed, and we’ve designed the perfect slow safari to match, linking two of Tanzania’s most iconic destinations: The Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti.

Day 1: Arusha

You will be met on arrival and transferred to the Africa Tulip Hotel in Arusha. 
Take time to unwind beside the pool, or book a Coffee Plantation Tour and discover the bean-to-cup journey and sample freshly brewed Tanzanian coffee. (time permitting) 
Overnight African Tulip, including breakfast. 
 



Day 2: Karatu

Depart after breakfast to the Ngorongoro Highlands. 
Visit the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Africa’s natural wonders. This vast volcanic caldera offers incredible game viewing — expect the Big Five, plus an impressive variety of birds, all framed by the crater’s forested walls. With its mix of forest, grassland, and soda and freshwater lakes, the crater is the highlight of a Tanzania safari for many visitors.
Your crater visit may take place today, or tomorrow. The timing of this activity will be confirmed by your guide when commencing this safari. 
Overnight The Retreat including all meals. 

Days 3 – 6: Seronera
Continue onto the central Serengeti, named after the Maasai word “Seringit”, meaning “endless plains.”
It is here that you may encounter the wildebeest migration, where more than a million wildebeest trek in columns of up to 40kms long in search of grazing, drawing with them plenty predators.

From January to March, the herds gather in the south (Ndutu) to give birth. By June and July, they head north through the Western Corridor, before dramatic river crossings between August and October. In November, the herds return south to start a new cycle

At certain times of the year, you may prefer to split your stay between the Central camp and either Ndutu (for calving season) or the North (for river crossings).  Our expert team of safari designers can assist  in planning the perfect safari just for you.,

Our passionate guides love sharing the wildlife, landscapes and stories of their country — and delight in seeking out whatever you are looking for, whether you’re after  rare birds or that one elusive species on your list.

Let your guide know how you want to spend your time – whether that means popping back to camp for lunch and a siesta between an early morning and late afternoon drive, or enjoying an extended full day drive with a picnic lunch. 

We highly recommend booking a Hot Air Balloon Safari (optional extra activity) for a whole new perspective on the wilderness.

Day 7: End of Itinerary
Transfer after breakfast by road back to Kilimanjaro Airport, a full-day drive of around 7-8 hours. 
OR upgrade your booking to include a scheduled flight on a light aircraft from Seronera Airstrip, offering scenic views over vast plains and varied landscapes.
